about

Carsten Daerr and Uwe Steinmetz met during their studies in Berlin and work since 1998 in different projects together, the intimate Duo-Format has always been the focal point of their collaboration. Based on mutual trust and on a shared approach to harmony and contemporary music they aim to have a 1+1 relationship as a duo continuously through all their music rather then having once a soloist and the other one being the accompanist.

Carsten ́s and Uwe ́s music draw its inspiration from many different sources outside of the world of contemporary jazz: church music, folk music, avantgarde rock and contemporary music. This recording documents their matching improvisational languages in an intimate duo setting of two original compositions and two songs which are meaningful to both of them. It is a dedication to the cultural roots they inherited in their lives through music, family and friends.
