about

Frank Wöste and Uwe Steinmetz met for the first time at the Jazz competition of the state of Lower Saxony in 1996, which they both won - Frank as a pianist, Uwe as a saxophonist. Half a year later they founded their first jazz ensemble, in which they exclusively performed their own compositions. From 1994 onwards, they also played together in the Lower Saxony State Youth Jazz Orchestra and then in the concert staff of the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra. Since 2002 they have been working in a duo and in the quintet “Common Ground” and, in addition to concert tours in Germany, have played several times with their program in the USA and in 2004 for the first time in South Korea. In November 2004 their CD “SONGFUL” (ARTPUR / YVP-Music) was released which included trio improvisations with Eric Schaefer on drums. Their ensemble was awarded the Lower Saxony JAZZIN Prize in November 2005.
