This music was commissioned from the country of Lower Saxony as a jazz-suite about the river where I grew up, the "Oste" in northern Germany. It draws from images from hikes, bike rides and boat tours along the river which flows into the North Sea. It was initially performed along with a photo exhibition with stations along the river. While the music focuses on the nature of water and the changes it undergoes from the spring to the open sea it is also inspired by some places connected to the water - a beautiful clearing in the forest, the moors and the memorial site of a labour camp from the third Reich.
